Breech block for Zesty Nimble (v3) Flex
thingiverse
Originally I noted that I hadn't tested this yet because I was still building the printer with my new nimble attached to it. I'm now able to print and had good success with PLA and okay success with TPU (although it had more stringing than I would expect) but I am not able to print with TPE (akin to ninjaflex) with this breech. The stock breech does print TPE successfully on my printer. I'm currently trying to figure out how to get that working right... ---- The original breech block set saved my v1 Nimble during the pandemic lockdown and since then I've been much happier with this breech than the original "rabbit ears". With the introduction of the Nimble Flex, I had a pair of the rabbit ears break during setup and decided to try to create a breech block inspired by the original ones. To use this, you need the following parts: * 3x7x3 bearing (for example the one that comes with the original breech) * 3mm x 7mm (or 6mm long works too) steel dowel pin (again, you can reuse the original) * 3mm x 16mm for the bottom hole * 3mm x 25mm for the top hole You should be able to print without supports. After printing, I use a 3mm drill bit to carefully enlarge the holes. Do not use a drill, just the bit itself to get a very tight 3mm hole. Once the holes are enlarged: * insert the bearing into the top slot * insert the 7mm long dowel into the bearing * insert the 16mm long dowel into the bottom hole * slide the bottom dowel into the bottom slot of the Nimble * attach the nimble to your mounting plate (with a piece of filament inserted to ensure proper alignment). To add/remove filament, you can use some pliers to pull the top pin out and then carefully insert it back into the slots when the new filament is inserted.
