On Houston St / 1st Ave in New York City. JR won the TED prize at the TED Conference in Long Beach, California on March 2, 2011 and called for a worldwide participatory art project that could change everything. This project is called INSIDE OUT. Inspired by JR's massive street 'pastings', INSIDE OUT lets everyone share their portrait and make a statement about what they believe in. It's a global platform where people can share their untold stories and turn personal identities into public art works. Each INSIDE OUT group action around the world is documented, archived and shown online. More than 200,000 people from over 112 countries & territories have taken part. The project has traveled from Ecuador to Nepal, from Mexico to Palestine, inspiring group actions on various themes like hope, diversity, gender-based violence, climate change...
