Break Apart Box
thingiverse
I designed this to help make silicone moulds of small objects. I had previously used small metal containers, or sometimes glued together boxes out of foam core, but I didn't find any of the approaches worked well - either the box was destroyed when I pulled the mould out - or it was *very* hard to get the mould out. With this model you can make a box that is exactly the right size, and where each side of the box can be pulled away. It might take a little bit of fine-tuning (see the 'tolerance' setting in the scad file), but you should be able to get a fit that is tight enough to be silicone-proof (probably even water proof), but that you can still pull the sides off the box when the silicone has cured. Printing should be pretty easy - for smaller models you can just take the STL from scad and print them directly and it should work well. for really large models you might need to tweak the scad to only output one piece at a time and print them separately. You might also need to up the wall thickness and the 'overlap' for larger models - I've only tried this up to maybe 5cm max.
