When using a breadmaker, the paddle can sometimes get stuck in the pan after cooking, making it extremely hard to remove. If you search online for this issue, you'll see that many people experience it, with numerous methods proposed to loosen and remove the paddle. However, most of these methods are time-consuming, require tools or excessive force that may damage your breadmaker, or need complex rigging using items like string and water containers. I was looking for a simpler solution and came up with this handy tool that works perfectly. This tool employs an inclined plane as a simple machine to create a large mechanical advantage, making it easy to push free a stuck paddle. Place the tool down flat against the bottom of the pan, positioning the fork around the shaft for the paddle, and then push it sideways under the paddle, gripping the large rectangular part. Avoid prying or lifting; instead, apply gentle, sideways pressure and let the mechanical advantage of the inclined plane do the work. For a very stuck paddle, a repeated "stabbing" motion may be helpful. Since the compression force used to push the paddle up is spread over a large area, this method should not cause any damage to your breadmaker. The tool is designed specifically for my BreadMan Ultimate, but you might need to make some adjustments depending on the size of the shaft in your breadmaker or the clearance between the paddle and the bottom of the pan. I expect that it could work well with a wide range of breadmakers. Let me know if this solution has been as beneficial to you as it has been for me! Happy breadmaking! Update: For version 2, the width of the inclined plane was increased for added strength, and the total lift distance was slightly extended to ensure the paddle comes off easily.
