Built with Blender 2.79b. Verts - 1087 Faces - 1182 Tris - 2118 ................................................................................................ Historical Note: During the Paraguayan War, in late 1860s, Alagoas was third ship of three Par-class river monitors built for the Brazilian Navy. Participating in Passagem de Humait on February 1868 and providing army fire support through rest of the war, Alagoas saw duty. Assigned to Upper Uruguay Flotilla after the war, Alagoas headed to Rio de Janeiro and played role in Fleet Revolt of 189394. Scrap yard was Alagoas's fate, getting transferred there in year 1900. Launched on October 29th 1867 and completed by November of that same year at Navy Arsenal of Court, in Rio de Janeiro during Paraguayan War when Brazil and Argentina were fighting against Paraguay together. Passing past Paraguayan fortifications at Humait six Brazilian ironclads, Alagoas arrived in Paran River by January 1868. The three vessels lashed together with bigger ships' engines, their engines disabled due to firing from the Paraguayans during their trip further north than Paran. Leading was Rio Grande under Barroso's command; second Bahia then Alagoas under Barreto de Alpoim, with Tamandar right behind, all in a line ahead as ordered not to risk daylight battle loss of ships if Paraguayan forts had caught up. But instead taking risks at dawn - an illegal order, actually disregarded, when meeting the rest after making passage, avoiding night fight and reaching past Humait successfully! Alagoas along with another, received hits but only managed by being grounded after safely making it out upstream so it could not sink later. Getting repair time spent mid March. Attacking artillery positions both times for support for other river units while trying Tebicuary River to hold on then attacking at the fort Timb too which ended in failure for them however Angostura was conquered with Brasil, Silvado by Brasil helping Par also attack Cear on Oct 15th that very year, Alagoas and Brasil were part of team winning battle for Brazil while trying again to reach the port of Buenos Aires to fight their enemy they did indeed finally achieve in November. Specifications include: Ship type - Ironclad turret Displacement (500 mt /490 t) - Heavy enough though lightweight compared what we would see much later after it. Dimensions length wise measured thirty-seven meters; wide 28'5", Draft about two, two inches on an average measurement scale, Length: twenty seven feet three, in. Engine power and other info included: Installed watts to hp ratio converted using watt's factor then getting kw output (kilo wats) out. Two engines running off steam which generated energy driving it to a steady ten knot pace that translated speed of thirteen kilo m/hr plus an eighth mph! This means very slow for such powerful engine and vessel designed in 1800's still quite decently built considering back then what engineers had knowledge was impressive - lots! Armaments made from strongest materials including belts which gave great defense even to projectiles they faced constantly! For crew, a minimum of eight were at post always but could swell numbers with additional recruits. In fact 40 plus sailors manned those big ships like their iron monster! What else did it carry inside this sturdy body? Of course - heavy armament like guns (just the main cannon being enough). Even after decades still remains robust even armor was put in there to stop whatever enemy they might throw! Hope you like this design too! You're invited check rest out just head on my username.
