Braun Series 5 Shaver Holder
thingiverse
A custom wall mount for my Braun Series 5 shaver. The top and bracket joint requires a strong bond, which is achieved by gluing it together and reinforcing it with two 1/4" fluted dowels. To accommodate rinsing under the faucet after use, an indentation with drainage on the top of the holder holds the cutter head cover securely in place. Two holes in the face of the bracket allow for easy wall mounting, although this holder is designed to be mounted, not free-standing. I could have easily converted it into a standalone model. To design this custom mount, I used a longitudinal photo of my shaver's cutter head and graphic editing software to create an SVG pattern of its outline. This pattern was imported into 123D Design as a sketch, which I then extruded into a solid shape. The resulting cut-out for the block in the top of the holder was precisely crafted using this process. A major challenge arose when trying to align the dowel holes accurately, but by utilizing a wireframe view in 123D Design and creating multiple copies of the dowel shape, I successfully created properly aligned holes in both the top and bracket.
