Braun Satin Hair 7 replacement fan (epoxy glue fit)
thingiverse
I've modified my design to include gaps for epoxy glue, ensuring a solid connection to the shaft. To secure the fan to the shaft, I use 5-minute-epoxy: First, grind the shaft of the electric motor slightly in an axial direction using abrasive paper. Then, fill enough epoxy into the hole of the fan while avoiding air bubbles inside. Next, place the shaft into the hole. The connection appears strong despite my material choice (PET) not being ideal for epoxy glue. The form fit still provides a significant amount of strength to the connection. Note: My first sample lasted eight months with regular use before disconnecting on April 5th, 2020. To address this issue, I recommend grinding the shaft in an axial direction as mentioned above. Also, note that UHU Hart is not recommended; it caused the fan to separate upon initial usage. A stronger adhesive is required. Note: On April 7th, 2020, I experimented with a customized press fit solution found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4267043. However, I lack long-term experience with the durability of this customized connection.
