Braun HL1 - Personal Desktop Fan - vintage
thingiverse
Recreating an accurate replica of Braun's iconic HL1 requires attention to detail, which led me to design the original fan shroud as a first step. Restoring the two fans was essential, as they showed significant signs of wear, particularly in the parts that were notoriously difficult to clean and clear - the integral components that needed reproduction accurately. With 3D printing in mind, I designed the shroud to match the real thing in transparent resin but considered it might take on an intriguing resto-mod appearance in a more opaque color. In any event, getting caught up in the project led me to complete a full desktop fan restoration. Now available for purchase through Shapeways.com is this re-created model's intricate detail accurately rendered from the actual piece - a result of meticulous attention paid to precision-crafting. Printer Settings: LulzBot TAZ 6 No rafts were necessary. No supports needed to be created. Resolution level set at .3 Density achieved at 10% Assembly note: Carefully consider layer fragmentation while rebuilding in PLA for better cohesion. Note the final finish is ideal but demands excessive component joining, making this suitable FDM less likely. Restoration Project Instructions: As the HL1 replica's components came together with precise craftsmanship, so did my dedication to restore the real item through faithful rendition.
