Brasão do Rei D. Manuel - Casa da Guarda
sketchfab
D. Manuel's crest is located above the entrance portal in the Casa da Guarda at Castelo de Montemor-o-Novo, near the main village gate - also known as the Clock Gate or Santarém Gate. The national crest, composed of five shields surrounded by seven castles and an armillary sphere on either side, represents D. Manuel I's maritime expansion emblem of the Kingdom of Portugal. This marble piece was created in high relief and still features remnants of a Gothic letter inscription that is now illegible due to erosion from exterior conditions that degraded the stone.
