Brass Case Sorter
thingiverse
A top-notch job by macobaco on the original design! I remixed it to make it more like commercially available ammo sorters. The result is three stacking trays that work together seamlessly. The top one expertly separates .45 ACP cases, while the middle tray sorts out .40 S&W/10mm cases with ease. Meanwhile, the bottom tray catches 9mm/.38 cases, and any stray trash or .22LR cases fall through to the bottom. Simply hold the stack over a trash can as you shake the stacked trays to sort your ammo efficiently. It's essential not to overload the trays so that there is room for the brass to move around freely. I printed my set with the same colors as the commercial set: yellow, blue, and black. As macobaco notes, minor filing may be necessary to remove any first-layer overextrusion if your cases aren't falling through as they should. Take a .40 case and run it through the slots in the top tray - if it doesn't move smoothly, carefully file or sand until it slides through effortlessly. Repeat this process for a 9mm case and the middle tray. With these simple adjustments, you'll be sorting your ammo like a pro! I made an edit on June 18, 2019: I added a tray with no slots to act as a trash catcher at the bottom of the sorter.
