Brake piston tool
thingiverse
This is a tool to easily compress the brake caliper piston on my 2007 Nissan Titan, saving time and hassle. I had been using a wood block but it would slip around and pinch the piston boot. It's amazing how quickly you can design and print a custom tool in just 30 minutes instead of driving to the auto supply store. It works perfectly every time. Here are some helpful tips from my mechanic friends: Loosen the fluid fill cap and keep an eye on the fluid level, removing excess with a syringe prevents leaks. Compress the piston very slowly to avoid brake fluid squirting out and allow the piston boot to seat well. Lubricate and clean the piston boot with brake fluid before compressing the piston ensures smooth movement. Turn the wheel fully one way while working on each side for better access to the bolts makes the job easier. Remove rust from the torque member where the pad retainer seats and apply lubricant to both sides of the pad retainer prevents damage and wear. Update: I added the rear piston tool, a bit smaller for improved fit. Here are the rear tool parts: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3044658 View in A360 viewer: https://a360.co/2vgC4PA
