Looking online reveals numerous tutorials on rebuilding an automotive brake caliper, yet most overlook one crucial element: an air compressor. Without it, the task of extracting the piston becomes nearly impossible. I created a basic adapter for a bicycle pump to provide the necessary pressure. The adapter has provisions for a flathead screwdriver, but I suggest using it only to get the thread started. Instead, use pliers to grasp the adapter firmly on the thread, allowing the adapter to be threaded sufficiently for a secure seal. These adapters are available in M8, M10, and M12 sizes with short/long and fine/medium/coarse pitch configurations. I recommend the short version, but if you're struggling to attach your bike pump, try the long one. I printed my M10 fine short adapter using 0.1mm layers in PLA to ensure a precise tooth profile. Lower quality settings might work due to the tight fit. Don't forget to add a stopper to prevent the piston from flying off.
