Human brains are controlled by the visual connections between brain areas that correspond to objects in space. The brainstem coordinates sensory input from various nerves through cranial pathways. Of thirteen nerve pairs, ten provide motor and sensory control to face and neck functions. As a result, the brainstem becomes a vital interface point for signal transmissions, including those of corticospinal tracts responsible for muscle movement and sensation transmission, along with dorsal column-medial lemniscus pathway transmitting vibrations, sensations and proprioception, as well as spinothalamic tracts for pain management.
