Braille Italian Puzzle

Braille is a writing method used by blind people, and this project uses 3D printing and the "6points" alphabet to teach Italian geography. How I Designed This Software For this project, I used: Autocad Tinkercad Cura Gimp Steps I sought a picture of the Political Italian Map and downloaded it. I elaborated it with Gimp and imported it into Autocad using the "Import Raster" tool. After that, I designed the borders of each region with the "Spline" tool. At the same time, I chose the "6 Points" Braille Code after researching writing codes for blind people. I found an online converter at http://www.translatum.gr/converter/braille.htm In Autocad, I designed 20 tags with the names of different regions in Braille Code. I extruded the borders designed with the "extrude" tool of Autocad 3D. After that, I exported it in stl format and adjusted the dimensions of shapes and tags in Cura. Finally, I composed each region's shape with its tag in Tinkercad. This was the design studio for assembling without interference between the tags of different shapes. Project Objective The purpose of this project is to help blind kids learn Italian geography by touching the shapes of 3D printed regions. Audience Everybody can play with the puzzle game of Italian regions, but it was created for blind kids from 4+ years old. Preparation -Teachers take two or more teams of kids and explain that there are shapes of Italian regions with tags in Braille. - Teachers explain that it's a puzzle and they could start asking what are the regions that confine with certain ones. Steps -Pupils try to compose the puzzle by touching, asking, and comparing with other kids and teachers. -Taechers say stop when time finishes or when the puzzle is completed. -Teachers declare winners Results Kids enjoyed it because they were speaking with us and with teachers after a manual experience. Kids are learning Italian geography now. They can say where the different regions are located, and they are touched by the geography shape of Italy. Teachers can invite higher pupils to create another geography puzzle with blind students' help.
