I'm creating a simple yet effective design to deter hawks from the chicken yard while keeping the chickens contained. Thin netting covers the top of the coop, supported by lengths of PVC that serve as ribs. I designed two types of brackets to connect the PVC to the fence on either side - one snaps onto the chainlink's top rail without any fasteners needed, while the other braces against the adjacent 2x4 with holes for screws to secure it in place. I chose ABS for its durability and resistance to UV and weather. To expedite production, I printed these parts quickly, prioritizing functionality over surface quality since a large quantity was required to complete the chicken run. The design allows them to be printed upright, eliminating the need for supports. A brim was used to ensure the ABS adhered to the glass build plate, as aesthetics were not a concern in this instance. This is my first self-designed and printed project. Perhaps others can benefit from it as well.
