Bracket
grabcad
A bracket in mechanical engineering is an intermediate component that fixes one part to another, generally larger, part. While L-shaped metal pieces attached to shelves and walls are prototypical examples of brackets, the term can also be applied to any object that performs the function of attaching a smaller component to a larger one. In many cases, brackets have additional arms for increased weight support or maintain a non-L shape while still serving their purpose. Examples include bicycle lamp attachments and pipe mounting rings.
