The initial bracket weight reduction is further improved with the design revision. Key changes include a decrease in mass from 0.04773 to 0.03611 lb, maximum von Mises stress of 4,451 psi, a model volume of 0.74598 cubic inches, and a support volume estimate between 0.65 to 0.75 cubic inches. Additionally, the contact patch with minimum edge distance meets/exceeds requirements for Datum A and B surface areas. The bracket design uses a custom, ultra-low profile shoulder screw and attachment method, enabling fixed hinge constraints at mounting holes without requiring torque or tension preload to screws. Furthermore, all bracket components and mounting bolts/screws are within the specified design envelope and easily accessible. FEA constraints include fixed hinge at cylinder IDs of bracket mounting holes for attachment to the Centaur Interstage Adapter, zero displacement in radial direction on cylindrical faces in contact with Datum A, and zero displacement on flat faces in the normal direction to the face of the hole boss. The external load is a 600 lb force applied uniformly on the surface area of the bracket at Datum B. Comments indicate that the two lower mounting bosses can carry the full load, while upper mounting bosses are only required for contact patch compliance at Datum A for each mounting hole. The suggested modification is to eliminate the upper mounting holes, which would reduce bracket weight further (0.03314 lb) and decrease max von Mises stress (4,486 psi), while maintaining the same model volume of 0.68446 cubic inches and support volume estimate between 0.42 to 0.50 cubic inches.
