Ready for VR and game with animation. Brachiosaurus, a genus of sauropod dinosaur, roamed North America during the Late Jurassic period, approximately 154-153 million years ago. Elmer S. Riggs, an American paleontologist, first identified Brachiosaurus in 1903 from fossils discovered in western Colorado's Colorado River valley, United States. The name Brachiosaurus altithorax was coined by Riggs; the generic term comes from Greek for arm lizard, referencing its remarkably long arms, while the specific name signifies deep chest. Brachiosaurus is estimated to have reached lengths of 18-21 meters (59-69 feet), with weight estimates ranging from 28.3 to 58 metric tons (31.2-64 short tons). Characteristic sauropod features include a disproportionately long neck, small skull, and overall massive size. Notably, Brachiosaurus boasted longer forelimbs than hindlimbs, resulting in an inclined trunk and proportionally shorter tail.
