British Rail's lone Class 89 prototype, number 001, serves as a starting point for our OO scale project, with its design easily adaptable to HO or other scales. Built with the intention of transporting Channel Tunnel traffic, this locomotive remains a one-of-a-kind in the world. To accurately replicate the Class 89 in 3D print format, careful attention must be paid to several key measurements. The recommended starting point for our scratch-built model is the Class 47 chassis, which effectively transfers its proportions and detailing to our miniature marvel. When transferring to smaller scales such as HO or OO, consider scaling down on two critical dimensions: a mere 39mm adjustment on the x-axis and 37.96mm fine-tuning on the z-axis should achieve precise miniaturization.
