BOXOI (3D Zoetrope DIY Kit) Laser-Cut Files
thingiverse
Last year, my brother and I launched a Kickstarter project called "BOXOI - 3D Zoetrope DIY Kit". Unfortunately, we fell short of our funding goal. This time around, we're looking to reduce costs by switching from laser-cutting parts to die-cutting ones, and simplifying the kit by limiting it to just one play disk. We had planned to include two 12-framers in the original design, but unfortunately, these are impossible to create using die-cutting techniques. Instead of discarding the existing 12-framer designs, we'd like to share our laser cut files with makers who have the necessary skills and equipment to bring this project to life. To assemble your own BOXOI, you'll need to source the electronic components yourself, including the motor, which should be easily available online. The gear ratio of the motor I'm using is 1:48. To get started, you'll need a reflective optical sensor positioned above the platform for timing purposes, as well as two black stripes on the back of the play disk (one stripe will suffice for the 6-framer design). You can either paint these stripes or use a piece of black PVC tape to achieve this. Next, program your strobe light to flash six times per signal, with each flash lasting just 1ms. If you're interested in seeing how BOXOI works, check out our old video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOYvPVzwH4c This particular design is a later version of the laser cut file, which features a modified power switch setup. The kit was programmed to start automatically when the push button is pressed and turns off after 45 seconds. If you prefer to include a power switch in your design, consider using a battery box with an integrated power switch as a convenient alternative. **For those who backed BOXOI2, you can simplify things by using just the Boxoi_B.svg file for the 12-framers. The platform will remain compatible.
With this file you will be able to print BOXOI (3D Zoetrope DIY Kit) Laser-Cut Files with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on BOXOI (3D Zoetrope DIY Kit) Laser-Cut Files.
