Boxer Flat Four Reduced Size
thingiverse
I initially wanted to print the original design, but it was too large for my Printrbot. To make it workable, I decided to cut it in half, putting the left head and crankcase on one side, and the right head on the other. I also reduced material on both sides to fit the printer's capacity. For the pistons, crankshaft, and connecting rods, it is best to use them from the original assembly. To connect the two halves securely, I drilled holes for zip ties, which also helps keep the crank in place. Initially, I printed only the lower half of the design, then added the pistons and crank, resulting in a visually appealing rotation of the crankshaft and movement of the pistons, similar to a boxer's fists. A future upgrade could be creating a larger design and integrating the crank with a small electric motor for improved functionality.
