Box with Lid for cotton pads 55mm (PLA hinge) v2B
thingiverse
I design this tiny box with lid to store my cotton pads in the bathroom, measuring 55 millimeters in diameter. The hinge is attached using a single strand of 1.7 millimeter PLA filament. To shape the hinge, I take a sixteen-millimeter piece of this same material, heat one end until it's pliable and flatten it onto a flat surface on my workbench. Next, I utilize the flattened section as a hinge to join the lid to the box itself by heating the opposite end and applying gentle pressure with a metal ruler to flatten it out evenly. The final step is to close the hinge securely by pushing another flat metal object against the heated filament, sealing the connection in place. Now let's take a look at my printing settings: Rafts - turned off completely. No supports are necessary either. The resolution of the print will be set to 0 point two millimeters and I'll have an infill density of twenty percent to keep things balanced and strong.
