A project utilizing OpenSCAD to craft honeycomb openings for rectangular boxes, drawing inspiration from Box with Hexagonal Holes and Customizable Drawer Box with Hex Pattern Sides. The box's interior measures 50mm and has a thickness of 1.5mm, ideal for holding my Printable Interlocking Puzzle Remix or Cube Puzzle creations. Designed using OpenSCAD 2014.11.25, the model was refined using Netfabb Cloud Service. Please note: Excess plastic filaments may accumulate around the hexagonal openings, resulting in a messy print. Additionally, I've experienced prints that fail halfway through their intended height; proper printer calibration is essential to achieve optimal results. Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Next step: creating rectangular boxes with similar features. Printed using 1.75mm PLA on the Kossel Mini 3D printer, which runs Marlin firmware on a RAMPS 1.4 controller. Slicing settings used were: 0.25mm layer height, two loops per inch, no support material, 10% infill density, and a print speed of 45mm/s (reduced to 30mm/s at the perimeter). Extruder temperature was set to 195°C with no heat bed employed.
