Box with hidden hinge

Box with hidden hinge

thingiverse

This is a small, intricately designed box featuring a cleverly hidden hinge linkage. The hinge itself lies concealed within the wall of the box, rendering it invisible from both the outside and inside. To assemble this print, some finesse may be required, but fortunately, the parts snap together seamlessly without the need for any adhesives. The hinges are comprised of 20 precision-crafted components, with a few extra included to facilitate easy assembly. The OpenSCAD code used to create this design is freely available and can be modified to suit your specific needs. Feel free to experiment with different sizes to craft a one-of-a-kind box that reflects your personal style. My previous attempt at designing a box, showcased on Thingiverse as https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2873641, had its charm, but the hinge on the back left something to be desired. It wasn't until I stumbled upon a linkage design tool – http://blog.rectorsquid.com/linkage-mechanism-designer-and-simulator/ – that I was able to create a more aesthetically pleasing solution. After conducting several test prints and making some adjustments, I achieved the result you see above. I hope you find this design as captivating as I do, and I encourage you to experiment with it for yourself.
