Box with a stand for a PS3 Eye camera to be used for Light Chisel tracking

We developed a custom enclosure with a base to repurpose the PlayStation 3 Eye camera for tracking in seated augmented reality applications. The case includes a compartment for an USB-B connector and two openings for RCA connectors, which enable camera shutter synchronization. Two PS3 Eye cameras are used to track our Light Chisel six-degrees-of-freedom interaction tool in a seated AR setup. For more information on the Light Chisel project, visit the project site at: http://dcgi.felk.cvut.cz/projects/lightchisel/. You can also 3D print the Light Chisel yourself using your printer: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:820765. However, you might need to assemble a pair of infrared cameras for head tracking by following these instructions: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:820866. To Assemble The Tracker The electronic circuit board is secured inside the case with its original screws and two additional M3 screws. The case itself is then attached to the holder using four more M3 screws. The PS3 Eye cameras can be modified for synchronization, but first you'll need to access their VSYNC and FSIN pins. You'll find further instructions on the following websites: * http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/12445/ * Step 9 of modifying the PS3 eye camera: http://www.instructables.com/id/The-EyeWriter-20 To prevent damaging the printed circuit board, we often epoxy a piece of copper-clad board to the empty areas on the PS3 board. We then use this new area as the point of attachment for synchronization cables connected to the RCA connectors. These new points are then connected to vias on the PS3 board using a thin wire and coated with epoxy. We also added protection circuits from ST Micro onto the camera's synchronization lines to prevent damage to the camera circuit: http://www.st.com/st-web-ui/static/active/en/resource/technical/document/datasheet/CD00001361.pdf It's recommended that you put clamp-on ferrite beads on both ends of the camera's synchronization cable.
