Box Rpi4 Hifiberry Digi with fan
thingiverse
I just wanted to find a way to cool my RPi4 mounted with a HifiBerry Digi+ card efficiently. Since no other GPIO pins were available, I had to think outside the box. This is what I came up with. The fan of choice is a Noctua NF-A4x10. I connected it using an USB extension cable, tapping into one of my RPi's USB ports. This particular assembly design requires zero tools: no screws needed. To make maintenance a breeze, I also added a sliding cover that allows me to access the SD-card without having to disassemble the entire thing. For reference, on Libreelec, with the fan turned off, my RPi4 reached temperatures of around 66°C. However, when I activated the fan, the temperature plummeted to a mere 38°C - as evidenced by the accompanying pictures.
