I modify the ashtray on my car to be deeper and have a lid because my driving skills are far from perfect and I wanted a solution that would make riding with me less stressful for others, even though it's still pretty stressful for everyone involved. All you really need is some wooden skewers and a 3D printer. The skewers should simply press into place, but since tolerances can vary in printers, you might need to use some glue to get them to stay put. This modification works well with my Subaru Impreza, but it's not exclusive to that vehicle, so feel free to adapt it for your own car if you see the value in having a deeper ashtray with a lid.
