This Bell Plain bowl boasts an impressive incised swirl on its base. The Hampson Museum Collection showcases the world's most exceptional collections of American Indian artistic expression as well as a primary source for data on late pre-Columbian peoples of the Mississippi River Valley. Extensive excavations at the Nodena Site and other regional sites by Dr James K. Hampson, combined with work by the University of Alabama and the University of Arkansas, have yielded the impressive collections found at the museum. The Virtual Hampson Museum was launched by CAST in 2010. This pioneering virtual museum is the first to offer high-resolution data online, earning it a prominent feature in the UA Research Frontiers article published in April 2010. By 2011, the Virtual Hampson Museum had begun receiving significant scholarly recognition. Below are articles that reference this groundbreaking digital museum.
