Bowl Gouge Sharpening Jig

This bowl gouge sharpening jig can be used for making various angles in combination with a benchtop grinder. A stripped down Vari-Grind Accessory alternative to save us some money. Depending on what height it makes contact with the wheel, you will need to move how far away the pivot rest is located from the grinder. You can see I just drilled a small hole in a 2x4 to set the distance correctly. I would recommend setting the tip angle first (usually to 55 degrees) by keeping the pivot rest vertical, and then setting up your distance based on that angle. Threading into plastic works okay for low stresses, so avoid overtightening the top bolt. I would suggest printing with PETG for added strength, but PLA should be almost as good. All threads are undersized by 7 thou so the bolts can wear into them.
