Archaeologists have discovered early ceramic bowls in ancient Chinese, Greek, Cretan, and various Native American cultures. These pieces were crafted as part of an art project called "Ghosts in the Form of Gifts" commissioned by Massey University Wellington in New Zealand in 2009. You can learn more about this project on bronwyn.co.nz/projects/gifts/. The project was awarded the 2010 Open Source in the Arts Award in New Zealand. "Ghosts in the form of gifts" is a collection of objects that are replicas of artifacts thought to be lost, misplaced, or misrecorded during the Museum of New Zealand's time in the former museum building on Buckle Street. Now occupied by Massey University's College of Creative Arts. These objects were created using a process involving drawing, digital 3D rendering, and finally, printing with a RepRap machine. The digital files for these artifacts are freely available for educational reuse under a Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license.
