Another exciting result comes from fiddling around with DSM (http://www.rs-online.com/designspark/electronics/page/mechanical). I'm absolutely hooked on this application for 3D printing now. The holder is designed to fit the standard length x-carriage of Prusa i3 (https://github.com/josefprusa/Prusa3), which, I must say, wasn't my creation. All credit goes to Joseph Prusa for the fantastic work on Prusa i3 parts, widely known in the RepRap community. The two components are carefully crafted to be air-tight. If you encounter issues with the fit-in-place pieces, consider using XY-compensation option of Slic3r or setting up a fake larger nozzle diameter in your slicer (or simply file down the parts slightly). It securely holds two cheap 8-dollar Chinahotends and also accommodates two fans - one 22mm fan for hotend cooling and one 65mm (CPU) cooler for print cooling. The parts sliced perfectly well with CraftWare, Slic3r, and RepetierHost->curaengine. Printed without support at a layer thickness of .2mm. --Update 2015-04-25: I enlarged the front holes to fit M3 nuts. Also, I modeled some supports and lowered the hotend cooler by 4mm, making it even easier to print and assemble. --Update 2015-06-20: I modified several diameters and spaces. Now it sits better and is slightly more straightforward to assemble. However, I'm unable to upload new files at the moment; they will be uploaded later. An advance preview of the completed project can be seen in the gallery. --Update 2015-08-08: I've just uploaded the finalized version. All tolerances and gaps have been tweaked numerous times. Now it comes with a 40mm fan instead of the smaller one, working seamlessly for me! The only potential update is adapting it to the carriage of the Prusa i3 rework parts, which will be released as a separate entity.
