Bowden tube feeder with filament release mechanism
thingiverse
This Bowden tube feeder offers a direct drive for 1.75mm filament, with a quick-release mechanism to ease tension on the extruder motor. User Kert remixed it for 3mm filament using a geared stepper. Assemble instructions and inner workings are demonstrated in a video, but beware of a mistake: the two 45mm M4 bolts should be 50mm instead. Additionally, there's a filament spool holder for extrusion bars. Print everything without support and pause to change filament after the first three layers. The feeder requires specific hardware: four M3 x 8mm screws, one M4 x 16mm, three M4 x 30mm, two M4 x 50mm (as per correction), two M4 x 15mm, ten M4 washers, four self-locking M4 nuts, two M4 nuts, a 13mm diameter x 5mm thick bearing, a toothed wheel, and two springs with a diameter of 7.5mm and length of 15mm (like Ikea clothes pegs). The toothed wheel can be purchased here. Don't forget the NEMA 17 stepper motor. Happy printing and don't forget to share your pictures!
