Print yourself a Bowden extruder! The size is 43mm squared, matching the NEMA 17 stepper motors' dimensions. The loader arm moves smoothly thanks to dual thrust bearings. Parts List: For the push guide bearing, use up to 12mm OD with a maximum thickness of 5mm. For optimal performance, try these combinations: I'm using Option 1, which works well. For Option 2, you'll need shims as spacers to prevent the OD from rubbing against PLA. - Bearings Option 1 (2x Flanged bearings, 3 ID x 5 OD x 2.5mm, and 1x Standard bearing, 5 ID x 10 OD x 3mm) - Bearings Option 2 (1x Standard bearing, 3 ID x 10 OD x 4mm, and 1x 3mm ID washers, 1mm thick) Two sets of Thrust bearings are required: 3mm ID by 8mm OD by 3.5mm Thick. These can be found online at a low cost; I use them on the spring-loaded arm. The arm has insets for these bearings, allowing 0.5mm gap on either side. - Spring: 1mm gauge, 5mm OD x 20mm tall compression spring - One long M3 screw (40mm) with two Hex nuts to secure and adjust spring compression - One M3 screw (12mm) with a Hex nut for securing the spring-loaded bearing
