Human: I use Bowden coupling spacers, specifically designed to fit the E3D embedded and threaded couplings. These spacers can probably be resized to fit other connectors as well. When using threaded connectors, I prefer a different approach - preloading the coupling by screwing it in with the PTFE tube sticking out slightly while loaded with filament.
