Bowden Cable Coupling for RepRap
thingiverse
This rapid printing device is for those who desire speed. Its operation is demonstrated in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSBqBW1w2wE. This filament drive mechanism is part of a Bowden extruder, and its coupling could be utilized on both ends or customized for specific extruders. The nut-turning-PTFE tube concept comes from profounddevices and was incorporated into this design. An electrical switch idea using the nut for pressure release feedback is being considered to include reversing functionality in the firmware without material configuration. Bowden cable guidance is credited to Ed Sells, and high-tolerance 'push to fit' coupling alternatives are available on Thingiverse. To assemble, screw nuts onto PTFE tube ends, trim if needed, drill if necessary, add super glue if desired, and insert into printed part.
