Reduce, reuse, recycle. Usually the seat mast for a Trek Domane SLR will be found installed on a Trek Domane SLR, but sometimes for various reasons they can't fulfill that task anymore. Now what are you going to do with it? You've got a pretty cool carbon fiber part worth nearly $300 that you can't use anymore, if only there was something you could do with it.Now there is. Print out this piece and it'll mount to the seat mast in place of the expander bolt and allow you to use your fancy seat mast as a bottle opener. Including the spacer that works with a standard M3x10 screw to fix it in place through the open bottom of the seat mast. You might be able to reuse the M3 screws from the stock expander wedge, but I haven't tried that.This is a more recent version of my bottle opener for the Trek Madone SLR seat mast but is based on the same principles so should work as well. It will be subject to the same enthusiastic test regimen that the previous has survived.Stole some of the general dimensions from either the super best bottle opener or a remix which I can't find anymore. If you don't have a Domane seat mast on hand, that Super Best bottle opener is legit and worth printing out a bunch. Printing Notes:This print is tricker than the Madone seat mast print as there is no flat side to use for printing. I found what works is printing it at a 45 degree angle with a brim and supports from the print bed. This causes the opener lip to be printed over a number of layers and so far that seems to give it enough strengthUp the number of print shells for sufficient strength, I'd recommend at least 5 shells with a 0.4mm nozzle.Don't print it flat on its back as then all the stress of opening a bottle would cross a single layer and it'd probably break quickly.Alternately, print it on an MSLA (resin) printer as that doesn't have the layer strength issues of FDM.
