Bottle Opener
thingiverse
I have a mild disability, so opening bottles can be a bit tricky for me, especially when it comes to breaking those seals. I'm excited to show you this 5th generation prototype, designed to make bottle-opening easier for others. It's large and has two grip holes - one for bottle tops around 30mm in diameter and the other for 40mm. This covers all the drink bottles I get, including water, soft drinks, milk, and fruit juices. The inner grips angle inward, making it easy to slip over and down onto most bottle tops, regardless of their texture. The outer shape is large and slightly oval-shaped, providing a comfortable grip for easy turning. I printed this prototype with hard PLA, but flexible filaments may offer even more grip and comfort. Hard PLA has held up well to heavy-duty dishwasher action, so it should be safe for you to use. There's also a hole through the middle if you want to hang it on a hook or if a lid gets stuck in the grip, you can poke it out from the other side with your finger. This gadget is very handy for anyone with hand or grip difficulties, such as arthritis or stroke sufferers. I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions for further improvements. I designed this prototype using Tinkercad. You can edit it online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/kxuTFJf1jyx Print Settings: * Rafts: Doesn't matter * Supports: Yes * Infill: 25% * Notes: This prints nicely with Rubber PLA at regular PLA settings, use an infill between 25 and 60% to adjust the degree of squeezability for added grip and comfort. Support is recommended for a solid central hole to poke your finger through and pop out a stuck cap. Print horizontal for high strength in the final print functionality.
