Bottle Drying Rack - with separate arms

thingiverse

This is a remix of the segment and arms of the Bottle Drying Rack found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:33708. I appreciate the modular design of this rack but have encountered several instances where the arms break under load. Upon further inspection, I've concluded that this issue arises from the weight of the bottle exerting a shear force on the print layers of the arms. The layer-layer bond of the 8mm square arms is relatively weak, and it doesn't take much to snap them. To address this concern, I've modified the design to have the arm layers perpendicular to the shear force. However, this necessitates printing the arms separately from the core, resulting in significantly stronger arms. To secure the arms in place, I've introduced a snap-in locking-tab design. This design offers two key benefits: it doesn't require a large bed to print the core and it allows for the use of fewer than eight arms.
