Bottle Cap Paint Palette Holder
thingiverse
Sometimes I'm quite thrifty, and utilizing water bottle caps in my hobby is one way I exhibit this trait. Occasionally, I employ a water bottle cap as my palette, preferring it to be angled so that paint pools on one side. However, after only a dab or two of my brush, the cap inevitably slips and falls flat – completely ruining my day. Consequently, I devised this solution. It's designed primarily for common USA water and soda bottle caps, which measure 30mm with a tolerance of ±1mm. I built it large enough to accommodate big gallon-sized milk carton caps as well. But hold on there; those contrast paints are the priciest ones around. You can upgrade these by adding weight, but that'll cost you $0.05 – the hole in the base has room for five US pennies. Next, glue the two pieces together using CA glue. I personally use poster tack to keep the cap on the base. **Update**: I added decorative lids for good measure.
