Botmobile Dune Buggy - 2013 Version

After creating the initial Makerbot Botmobile, I struggled to find the right motor, gear, and battery combination. This led me to redesign the drivetrain and other components in order to simplify the assembly process for everyone. Check out this YouTube video of the brush version of the car in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22fwVmX2GA8. Credit goes to Makerbot for the original design. The 2013 version features a redesigned drivetrain that supports both standard, off-the-shelf 280 brush and brushless motors, modified drive gears for full printability and compatibility with stronger motors, a body that accommodates 2S LiPo packs, additional mounting points to enhance chassis rigidity, improved steering for better control and tighter turns, and an enlarged receiver slot with provided RX brackets for installing various receivers. An updated assembly manual with a complete parts list is also available. All parts were tested and printed successfully on a Replicator 2X (ABS) using Makerware. Be sure to refer to the downloadable manual for instructions. Update: Part list in the manual has been updated with working links and new references (2/22/2017). Experimental rubber tire model has been uploaded (7/13/2013), pending confirmation from other users. Manual V2 was released, including assembly instructions for steering, gearbox, and rear axle (7/10/2013).
