Judges/Everyone please check out my submission video below, which shows how I created the model using photogrammetry with Autodesk ReMake (https://vimeo.com/190468054)\r\n\r\n\r\nWorkflow\r\nI chose to use the turntable approach for taking photos. For easy and accurate rotation, I designed a turntable with worm drive and also custom rigging in Autodesk Fusion 360 for mounting the headphones on the turntable. Without the rigging, the earpieces naturally collapse against each other. The rigging keeps the earpieces spaced apart and suspended above the turntable platform. I have uploaded my turntable for everyone to try here: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/25004\r\nThe headphones have many smooth, shiny, black surfaces which are not ideal for photogrammetry. To deal with this, I applied cornstarch over the surface, which adds color variation and a matt finish that allows Autodesk ReMake to generate a clean model. It is also easy to wipe off afterwards.\r\nAfter the model generated successfully, I used Autodesk ReMake's editing tools to delete the custom rigging and smooth out the surface. \r\nLighting and Camera\r\nI used three halogen work lights (2 x 500W, 1 x 250W) with translucent vellum paper from the craft store as diffusers. The background sheet is a piece of white vinyl from the fabric store. My camera is an old Sony NEX-5N, set to manual to keep the shutter speed, aperture, and focus constant. The ISO is 100. The camera is mounted to a Gorillapod. I used a remote trigger to ensure crisp photos.\r\nThe Print\r\nI printed the model with an Ultimaker 2+ in white PLA at 0.12mm layer height on a 0.4mm nozzle for good detail. Print time was about 32 hours at 10% infill. Seams between the halves were patched and smoothed with a little modeling putty. The result is a highly detailed, dimensionally perfect replica.\r\nUploaded Files\r\nI have uploaded:\r\n"Bose Wireless Decimated" in OBJ and STL as the rules require. These are the complete undivided model of the headphones, which others can use for customizing.\r\nTwo "Bose Wireless Print Xof2" STL files which is the model divided into two parts for easy printing. Only a small portion of the inside of the earpieces require supports.\r\nI have also uploaded a few product photos so that you can see just how perfectly the scan captures the details of the original headphones.\r\nCustomization\r\nThe model is a bluetooth wireless Bose AE2W headphones. I plan to customize the exterior of the headphones with custom cans that will look awesome.\r\nThanks for watching!
