Bosch dishwasher door spring attachments
thingiverse
The door of my Bosch dishwasher suddenly stopped standing upright. At first, it held its position perfectly, no matter how far I opened or closed it. But one day, a worrying noise caught my attention. The door was no longer firmly in place. It could still be kept at almost closed with some effort, but if I opened it even slightly, it would crash into the fully open position. This made me very concerned about being surprised and hurt by its sudden movement. Months went by before another loud breaking noise occurred. Now the door had only two options: either it was completely locked shut or it fell freely to a fully open position. It was clear that I needed a solution, and fast. Research revealed that there are two springs on each side of the dishwasher, connected to both the frame and the door through a cord. Unfortunately, the cheap plastic links between these components had broken (all four of them!). I discovered online that this is a very common issue with my Bosch model. I now had two choices: either buy replacement springs and links for $20, even though the springs themselves were fine, or print new parts to replace the fragile plastic links. These are the printed replacement plastic pieces I came up with. They're made of the same material as the original parts, but I feel my design is more solid than the originals, even if it's just a 3D print. It's been a month since I installed them, and so far, they haven't broken (although I'll only know for sure after they've been in use for several years).
