Bosch 18v NiCad Tool to DeWalt 20v Max Battery Adapter
cults3d
The adapter allows you to use DeWalt 20v max lithium batteries on old Bosch 18v NiCad tools. To get the most out of this setup, orient the battery backward - it's optimal for most tools like the planer and jigsaw. This adapter is surprisingly strong and has withstood heavy use without issue. It fits the tools and batteries perfectly, staying securely in place and refusing to fall out or come apart like other adapters that I've tried before. Inside the adapter, there's a compartment for low voltage cutoff or other electronics - though I haven't needed to use them yet. Despite Bosch still selling 18v batteries, I have a diverse collection of cordless tools from various brands, making it difficult to properly maintain and cycle multiple battery types. When my last Bosch battery died, I reluctantly switched to DeWalt batteries because they offered their own adapter - now I'm creating adapters for all my tools. It's worth noting that large amp/hour batteries may protrude enough to collide with the work surface on certain tools, but modifying the adapter to have a 20-degree tilt could prevent this issue. However, this modification was deemed impractical.
