Bosch 1617 LED Air Deflector
thingiverse
I've been looking for a better way to see the tool while cutting on my CNC. My current setup uses a Bosch 1617 spindle that cools itself by pulling air through the top and out of the bottom. This tends to push dust outside of the shroud and into the air, making it hard to work with. I created this little mount to redirect the airflow to the sides instead of straight down. So far, I haven't had much time to test it, but it should help reduce the amount of dust being generated outside of the shroud. I might modify it later to allow for a more directed air stream to better collect the dust. I could make several of these mounts for different operations and improve my workflow. The LED mount is a separate piece that holds four sections of 6k LED strips together. I soldered leads between the sections so they can be mounted around the inside of the ring. Since I didn't have an LED ring, this was the best solution. The angle of the mount could be better, but it lights everything much better than I expected. To mount it, I used two 4mm bolts that were 12mm long. There are two empty threaded holes for mounting, and I cut threads in the LED mount using an M4 drill and tap bit to make insertion easier. I've been running a 12v power supply through my cable chains since I first got my CNC router. This allows me to quickly add devices when needed. The power is controlled by an LED dimmer, which helps adjust the brightness of the lights. I routed the power through a hole in my dust shroud using a captured nut that fits perfectly. The dust shroud was recommended by CNCROUTERPARTS and Avid CNC, and it's made by Kent.
