Sanding a large amount of drywall joint setting compound was covering my entire house in a thick layer of dust. I didn't feel like spending $12 on a commercial adapter (RS006), so I decided to create one myself. I colored the bag adapter end with a Sharpie, creating a clear print onto a sheet of paper. Next, I scanned it as a PDF and opened it up in AutoCAD to add some rough dimensions for reference. I designed short rings for the sander end and hose end in Solidworks, making adjustments until they fit perfectly together. To finish off the model, I lofted a smooth blend between the final shapes. After completing my custom adapter, I was able to sand without filling the entire house with dust!
