Borg-Warner Transfer case electric shift replacement rubber bumper
thingiverse
I'm going to replace that rubber bumper on my 2010 Ford Ranger's electric shift controller myself because I don't want to spend extra cash at a dealership or a repair shop. It wasn't too difficult and took me about 2 hours to complete the job. Here are some basic instructions for doing it yourself if you want to. The electric shift control assembly is located inside of your vehicle and can be accessed through the glove compartment, so start by taking off that part first. Be sure to have the vehicle in park with the transmission shifted into neutral and turn the key off. Then get behind your vehicle and look for a big electrical connector on the back of it; pull that out of its receptacle and slide that little clip up over it - this will give you access to where everything lives underneath. Locate that plastic bumper (mine was beige but may vary) at the front side near one end. There should be 3 Torx head bolts (10 mm for Ford Rangers with the auto-start engine, 8 mm for some other makes and models) attaching it directly onto a big round electrical connector and those need to be removed too in order to pull out this old plastic bumper because once those are gone then simply use pliers or a punch tool to push both of these parts apart while pulling downwards really hard. This should release all remaining parts inside as well including one additional cable - do not lose track of which way they're facing; also be sure to inspect underneath for any dirt accumulation or obstructions prior to continuing! Finally remove all screws holding everything else onto there including your brand new electric shift controller (which was provided separately.) Then just connect both ends together tightly using an electrical connector and tighten down the mounting hardware securely. You can also add some electrical tape if desired around this point so water doesn't get in over time. All set! The whole process from beginning until end will take approximately three hours to finish depending on individual experience levels although if yours needs replacing frequently maybe try purchasing extra pieces before wasting resources repeatedly - have fun working underneath again without feeling helpless at all thanks for taking part
