10/23/2015 - Complete chaos erupted, numerous files were brutally deleted, and models underwent a radical reconstruction. If you've previously downloaded these things, it would be wise to delete them and obtain the latest versions available as of today. Here's what has happened: I completely reworked the Needle using innovative 123D Design techniques I recently mastered. Additionally, I added a "pointy" version for those who wish to follow the original design canon. I also reconstructed Vial (part 1 and 2 because, alas, I did not have the original 123dx files), rebuilt the Clip as I was unhappy with its proportions, and reworked the Grip according to my liking. Perhaps I should utilize Vial pt2 to eliminate any overlap, though it probably won't be necessary. Using Clips and Grips, I machined the Collar to simplify assembly and gluing processes. Next up is modeling the handle - this part will be a significant challenge. Keep in mind that all original 123D Design design files are readily available; if I have inadvertently missed one, please inform me. Warm regards, Banjo 10/22/2015 - I revisited the in-game model and extended the "screw" from the clip to the collar surface. I still need to assemble the parts to ensure they actually fit together. I've added a brand new version of the collar featuring chamfered edges, modeled with dimensions 30mm L x 30mm OD. However, its internal diameter should match the front vial's dimensions and may require an extra 0.5-1mm allowance for sanding or final adjustments when finishing. Sorry for posting numerous updates - it won't happen again! 10/21/2015 - Ignore my previous message - I just learned about the "Loft" function! What a game-changer! The first draft of Clip is now attached along with its matching 123D Design file. I'll need to confirm whether it mingles properly with collar and vial's rear half, plus I'm uncertain regarding the 5mm thickness. P.S. I've previously announced my plan to slowly build the Borderlands 2 Health Now! (also known as Feel Good Needle) from Borderlands 2. Work-in-Progress! Todo list: Fix Collar length at 55% of vial_pt1 Reconstruct Collar in the correct order (Tube > Chamfer > Groove) Construct Clip (the bit on front that screws in) Make Grip (the part on bottom) Craft Handle (the bit on top) Decide if I really want to attach a hinge to handle... Update: Yes...I really do want to incorporate a spring-loaded hinge; the question now is, how do I implement it? IGNORE THIS! It's for my personal notes. Collar Dimensions Height: 50mm Outer Diameter (OD): 36mm Internal Diameter (ID): 28mm Grooves Depth and Width: 1 mm deep 2 mm wide My Design Approach Screen capture taken from the Internet Steps: Step 1) Find high-quality, well-resolved photos. Step 2) Dissect images into their component parts. Step 3) Optionally: Overthink EVERYTHING before working on five different three-dimensional tools in no particular order. Step 4) Familiarize myself with TinkerCAD and learn to effectively utilize it as a tool. Step 5) Create working models! Used Software The original Collar design was made using TinkerCAD; for the remaining parts, I used 123D Design.
