Quick important printing instructionsuse supports. NOUNplural noun borborygmi/-mī/A rumbling or gurgling noise made by the movement of fluid and gas in the intestines. - Lexico.comDebuting as part of the yearly Downtown Art walk 2016 in Lawrence KS, Borborygmids by Will Vannerson impressed and blinded everyone who went to check out the newly renovated Lawrence Public Library. It struck with me personally as at the time I was in nursing school and had just spent the last several months learning and practicing the observations of bowel sounds. This piece existed only for that summer before being taken down. Since then a few variations of it have popped up around town. Not sure if it's a re-work of this original or their own unique hardware. (Shoutout to the r/Lawrence reddit post that inspired me to post this.)My infatuation with this piece led me to taking a Sony-handheld camera and a step stool to take upwards of 600 photos of this piece in order to scan it via photogrammetry. The program I used to reassemble the data is Autodesk ReCap. Printed in SLS nylon from a machine I had access to through work. If you want to print it yourself, I would recommend SLA, and even then being very particular about supports as the internal structure is difficult to print. If using FDM, then high resolution and some needle nose pliers to get to all the support.
