Booth Crane Chassis for Airfix/Dapol
thingiverse
Here is a replacement chassis for the classic Airfix/Dapol Railway Crane kit. The model is based on the Booth Permanent Way Crane built for the British Rail Western Region in the 1950s. The kit had a chassis which was not prototypical for the BR version and many modellers have scratch built replacements to go with the superstructure and jib. Here is a nice model that prints well in ABS like resin and saves a lot of effort. My chassis is dimensionally correct and is a one piece print. I have scaled this to 1/76 as it is designed to work with the kit but it could be scaled to suit other needs. I have done an additional version with extended outriggers just in case you may wish to model the crane in action. The outriggers would have been propped on timber packing. I have also drawn the tool boxes and jib rest structure for the Match Wagon. This is designed to work with the Hornby Bogie Bolster A model. Transfers for the Booth Crane are available from Cambridge Custom Transfers. Enjoy Jonny
