Boomphones phantom headphone part
thingiverse
Boomphones feel well built, yet they have their vulnerabilities like any other good headphones that inevitably break down. Unfortunately, replacement parts are nowhere to be found and glue is ineffective at sticking them back together. The weak spot on these Boomphones lies in the 1.5mm wall of the tube connecting the headband to its speaker. This fragile part has no direct replica available for replacement, so a modified version was created - a quick fix that allows the cable to be placed without having to de-solder and re-solder it, or thread it through. The throat wall has been reinforced with extra material to compensate for this weakness, while the twist stop on this throat has been widened and secured with a metal pin. You can use a small nail or wire for this purpose. I printed mine using PLA and it seems to be holding up okay. My goal was to repair these Boomphones quickly for a friend, so you may need to smooth out the edges in CAD before printing. I used sandpaper instead. I created this part in FreeCAD and have included both the STL and original file, making it easy to modify or improve as needed.
